2011; In Review

I never know whether I should look back or look ahead on the first of January.  While others make resolutions that are often forgotten by March, I have decided to look back at the 2011 and reflect on the things I have learned.  With each new experience comes a new lesson learned and 2011 was full of these events.  I have narrowed them down to my top 10 lessons learned of 2011.

Top 10 things I learned in 2011:

10.  The pictures that Cailyn and Bryce color and draw are the most elaborate works of art I have ever seen.

9.  There will always be people in my life that are fake to my face and turn around and talk about me behind my back.  I can't change what people think about me.  The only thing I can do is hold my head high, be myself, and know who my true friends are.

8.  A broken foot still hurts a year post break.  Especially on a spin bike.

7.  Life can change in a moment.  Watching a friend deal with her husbands brain tumor, radiation treatments, and follow up MRI's has opened my eyes to how a typical day can suddenly turn tragic.  My heart aches for them as I watch from a distance and pray each day.

6.  Confidence is hard to come by but when you find it, it gets you ahead in life.

5.  No matter how many items you burn that remind you of a hurtful or hard time in your life, the hurt is still there.  Anger and hurt don't turn to ashes like the emails you throw into the flames.  The feels remain buried inside, even though the evidence fades like the smoke.  Maybe in 2012 I will learn to internally let go of the anger and move on with forgiveness.

4.  Wine is delectable!  (And good neighbors make it ever better!)

3. Going to work when you like your work place makes it much easier to get up in the morning.

2.  Hearing my kids say they will love me forever and ever and ever and ever times a million is the BEST music to my ears!

1.  No matter how old you get, your parents are still your parents.  They will still do their best to guard and protect you.  I am blessed to have parents who go out of their way to help in times of need.  Thank you mom and dad.  I love you!

2012 has begun.  Bring on the learning!
